PIC WHERE WOULD WE BEE NACD THEME 98276_

May 20, 2019 --The NACD Stewardship and Education Committee announced the release of the 2020 Poster Contest and Stewardship Week theme: “Where would we BEE without Pollinators?” Pollinators form the foundations of a healthy and sustainable future for food and the environment, but in recent years, they have shown concerning signs of decline. It’s important that we work to help them prosper by enhancing native pollinator habitats and protecting against pollinator declines.

Excerpts from the award presentation to Kylar Pepper,

2018 Texas FFA Soil Stewardship Public Speaking Contest winner:

As a freshman, Kylar Pepper was named the 2018 Texas FFA Soil Stewardship Public Speaking Contest state champion.  The 15-year-old son of Kevin and Michelle Pepper, along with his older sister, younger brother, and parents, lives and works on a cotton farm in the West Texas community of Patricia.  He is a sophomore at Klondike High School and participates in football, basketball, track, National Junior Honor Society, and student council. Kylar is heavily involved in the FFA and serves as chapter treasurer.  He was president of the 2017 Texas FFA state runner-up Greenhand Chapter Conducting Team and competed on the Homesite Evaluation Team, placing ninth at the state level.  He has enjoyed showing pigs for the past seven years.
When he’s not participating in school-related activities, Kylar spends time with his youth group where he helps with Vacation Bible School and various other service-related projects.  After graduation, Kylar plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in landscape architecture.
